My Work is Cut Out for Me

The good news is that I have shaved about 4 minutes per mile off where I began last May. The not so good news was that today, I was certainly uncomfortable in doing so. We went 4 miles today on the W & OD in Reston. We began about 8.30 am after stretching and warm up and a great housekeeping chat by one of our coaches.
I began the first 2 miles in great stride averaging 12.30 miles resulting from a 4 minute run, 2 minute walk pace. (Last year I started with a one minute run, 3 minute walk pace). The final 2 miles really sucked. I was hot and spent. I ended up running simply when I could and walking when I couldnt. I still finished respectably well, and ahead of others (not the goal!!!!). So, now it's simply up to me to get in 2-3 good training runs this week before our 5 miler next week.
I need to concentrate on nutrition, hydration and stretching.
